This is just a quick note to let you know that the School-Hosted Volunteer Breakfast that was planned for September 21st has been postponed until further notice. Please let us know if you have any questions about volunteering!

Secondly, if you didn't see the flyer sent home with your child(ren), there is a Family Fun Day this Saturday, September 22nd. This is hosted by Vanderburg United Methodist Church (the big church across from the school). There are all sorts of games planned as well as hot dogs served, all free! The fun starts at 3pm!

Sally Foster Fundraiser Not Run by PTO

PTO has already had questions about the Sally Foster Fundraiser so I just wanted to write a quick note to clear up any confusion. The Sally Foster Fundraiser is run by the school, not by the PTO. I know this causes some confusion every year but it's just the way things are run. The school does one "major" fundraiser a year (aside from School Portraits) to raise money for the extra curriculum materials that are not covered under the regular budget. These extra curriculum materials are attributed to the success of our student's Math and Reading scores each year.

For clarification on the dates, my understanding is that money and orders are due October 1st. If you have any further questions about the Sally Foster fundraiser, please call the school office.

Thanks!
Melissa Forsyth
PTO President

PTO Volunteer Committees

We were pleased to have over 20 people at our PTO Meeting last night. Thanks so much for the support of those that attended and for so many that signed up to volunteer this year.

I know with the busy Fall schedule that not everyone can attend, so I wanted to take this opportunity to list our volunteer committees to give you the opportunity to be involved in an area that interests you and fits your schedule.

There are also openings available to help at the Book Fair throughout next week and the PTO Pizza/Meet the Teacher night next Thursday night.

If you can help in any of these areas (even as little as an hour a month makes a difference) please email us or drop us a note at the school.

Shepherd PTO News - August Edition

Click here for the online version of our August PTO Newsletter, which was distributed at school on Friday.

One important event that didn't make it into the newsletter is the school-hosted Volunteer Breakfast. This is a chance to get more information and new opportunities will be made available for you to volunteer wherever you are most interested in helping. This will take place on Friday, September 21st, 8am, in the Library.
