We will be taking nominations tonight at the PTO board meeting for Secretary, Treasurer, and Volunteer Coordinator. We are also looking for help with the student/school store and next year's yearbook. The meeting is in the library @ 6:30.

Teacher Appreciation Week

Teacher Appreciation week is May 7th-11th. Show your appreciation by bringing in something for your teacher.
Monday: Favorite candy/snack
Tuesday: Favorite drink
Wednesday: Favorite Fruit
Thursday: Favorite Flower (bring the real thing or draw a picture for your teacher)
Friday: Make your teacher a card!

Shepherd teachers rock, so let's show them how special they are!

Yearbooks

Yearbooks are on sale now. Order forms were sent home last week. They are $16 and will be handed out after EOG's. If you would like one, please get your orders in as soon as possible. Thank you!

Themed Raffle Baskets

There will be themed baskets up for raffle at the carnival.

Here are the themes by grade level:

Kinder: Family Fun/Family Movie Night
1st: Summer Fun
2nd: Arts & Crafts
3rd: Get up & Go
4th: BBQ/Camping
5th: Baking

This Saturday is the Spring Carnival at Vanderburg Church. There will be games, prizes, a cake walk, a pie in your face (yes, throw a pie at your favorite teacher!), food, raffle baskets (even an IPOD for raffle), bounce houses...TONS OF FUN!! If you can donate items for the themed baskets, please turn them in as soon as possible. And, if you can donate baked goods for the cake walk, please turn those items in on Thursday or Friday. Thanks for your support!

Carnival--April 28th 3-6 P.M.

The PTO will be hosting our 1st Carnival on Saturday, April 28th from 3-6 P.M. at Vanderburg United Methodist Church. There will be bounce houses, games, a cake walk, a pie throwing booth, and food! Tons of fun for the entire family!! There will also be vendors showcasing their products for sale. We will be raffling themed baskets that will be donated by each grade level! So, come enjoy an afternoon of fun with family and friends. If you would like to volunteer or showcase your product, please contact the PTO. (Volunteers will be entered into a drawing for a gift card!)

Vendors for the Carnival

The PTO will be taking vendors for the upcoming Carnival on Saturday, April 28th. The cost is $15/table, you provide the table. Sign up to showcase your personal business. We will only accept 1 vendor per business, on a first come first serve basis. Forms will be available in the office and you can send them in with your payment.

We would like your feedback on Spirit/Restaurant nights. What night do you think would be the best night for a spirit night at MdDonald's and Sweet Frog?? If you have pictures from an event in your child's class and would like to submit it for the yearbook, please put the pictures on a cd and send to school for the PTO. We will do our best to get as many pictures as we can published in the yearbook. We appreciate your help!!

Canned Food Drive

Shepherd has teamed with the Mooresville Christian Mission in a canned food drive. The poverty level is growing in our area and our community needs our help! Please bring in canned food items to help feed those families in need.

Attractions Books

Tuesday, September 27th, will be the FINAL collection day for the Attractions Books. Remember to show your demo book to family and friends. The books are filled with an incredible amount of coupons and deals for everyone. They make great gifts too! So, keep on selling and help Shepherd earn funds for supplies.

Book Fair Volunteers Needed

We still have some openings that need to be filled for the upcoming Book Fair. We need 2 people for the 7:10-7:40AM time slot on October 3rd, 6th, & 7th. We also need 1 person on Oct. 3rd & Oct 7th from 12-3PM; Oct.4th 1 person from 12-1 & 1 person from 2-3PM; Oct. 6th 1 person from 12-1PM & 1 person from 2-3PM; Oct. 7th 2 people from 2:15-4PM. Please contact the PTO if you can help with ANY of these time slots. If you can only do an hour on a certain date, that is fine.....all help is appreciated!!

The PTO is always in need of volunteers for fundraisers, teacher luncheons, etc. If you can volunteer your time at any event, please contact the PTO. You do not have to volunteer at ALL of the PTO functions.....we appreciate ANY amount of time that you can give!! Also, some parents have inquired about making donations to the PTO.....we welcome any and all donations! If you prefer to donate money to the PTO instead of participating in a fundraiser, then you can send it with your child to school in an envelope marked PTO. Remember, we are always open to new ideas too!!

Campbell's, Box Tops, and Capri Sun Pouch Collections

Please save and send in your box tops, Campbell's soup labels and juice caps, and empty Capri Sun pouches. Shepherd Elementary receives points towards each of these items which are then used to purchase supplies for the school and classrooms. Your help is greatly appreciated!!

Easter Egg Hunt

The PTO has tentatively scheduled our first Easter egg hunt for Saturday, April 9th, at Shepherd Elementary. Children will be split into groups based upon age. Please join us for face painting, a bouncy house, snacks, and special prizes for those finding the golden eggs!
